Iran dismisses American plane landed in Tehran

TEHRAN,Apr.19(MNA) – An Iranian aviation official has dismissed reports claiming that an American plane has landed at Tehran’s Mehrabad airport. On Thursday, the New York Times claimed that its reporter in Tehran on Tuesday spotted a plane parked in a highly visible section of Mehrabad Airport, bearing a small American flag on its tail. According to the report, the plane was owned by the U.S. Bank of Utah. Director General of Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport Nasrollah Mansouri Shirazi, told that no American plane had landed at the airport. Hamid Babaei, the spokesman for Iran’s United Nations mission in New York, said: “We don’t have any information in this regard. I refer you to the owner,” according to the Times report. Following the 1979 Islamic revolution, Iran and the United States severed their diplomatic ties when a group of Iranian students seized the American embassy in Tehran. There has been no direct flight between the two countries since then.
