Iran Dismisses UK's 'Meddlesome' Claims Against Iran Judiciary

Tehran, Dec 24, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Sunday condemned the "meddlesome" claims of British Foreign Secretary William Hague about a group of people convicted by Iran's Judiciary. Calling the claims "hostile and interfering", Mehmanparast said such unreal claims indicated another attempt by British statesmen to abuse human rights issues. He noted that the British government, having black record of colonial rule and thick file of human rights violation, is not qualified to interfere in internal affairs of other countries under pretext of defending human rights. He said such an indecent and archaic method has turned into customary culture of British policy makers. "Iran's Judiciary is independent and looks into files of convicts based on law and its own procedures without being affected by external pressures," he said./end
