Iran-Egypt FMs Condemn Sacrilegious Acts In Syria

Tehran, May 5, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi here Sunday described destruction and desecration of mausoleum of Hujr ibn Uday Al-Kindi, a companion of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), in Syria, as unacceptable. Salehi made the remarks in a telephone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Kamel Amr. These kinds of barbaric acts are against principles of human rights, he said, urging all the involved parties to halt the violence, prevent any foreign meddling in Syria and the rapid flow of arms and terrorist groups into the country. Referring to the recent regional developments, Syrian crisis in particular, Kamel Amr, for his part, voiced his countryˈs willingness to activate the Egyptian President Mohammad Morsiˈs initiative of forming a contact group on Syria and reinforcing negotiations in this respect. Both ministers also stressed the importance of political solution and national dialogue as the sole way to settle the ongoing crisis in Syria./end
