Iran Envoy, Former Lebanese PM Stress Significance Of Palestinian Issue

Beirut, Oct 12, IRNA – Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi and former Lebanese prime minister Selim al-Hoss in a meeting on Friday stressed the need to pay further attention to the Palestinian issue as the main concern of the Islamic world. Referring to the sensitive condition in the Middle East region, the two urged vigilance against Zionist plots. The Iranian ambassador briefed al-Hoss on the issues discussed by the Iranian delegation during its visit to New York in late September to attend the 68th session of the UN General Assembly meeting. He said that the reason behind invincibility of the Resistance Movement against occupation of the Zionist regime was the formers reliance on people. Elsewhere in his remarks, Roknabadi underlined the need for national solidarity in Lebanon, saying, unity and solidarity among different political groups in that country would thwart plots hatched by enemies, the Zionist regime in particular, to destabilize Lebanon. The Lebanese ex-premier, for his part, hailed Iran’s stance on Muslim world issues, mainly the Palestinian issue, saying Iran has played an important role in protecting the interests and rights of the oppressed nations around the world./end
