Iran Envoy Meets Grand Mufti Of Syria

Tehran, April 20, IRNA – Iranˈs Ambassador to Syria Mohammad-Reza Raouf-Sheibani hailed major role played by Syrian religious leaders, particularly by Grand Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Badruddin Hassoun, in thwarting enemiesˈ conspiracies against the country. According to a report released Friday by Iranˈs Embassy in Demascus, Raouf-Sheibani made the remarks in a recent meeting with the Syrian grand mufti. Expressing condolence over the martyrdom of a renowned scholar of Syria and the Islamic World Sheikh Muhammad Ramadan Al-Buti, the Iranian ambassador underscored the need for vigilance of Syrian nation against enemies plots. Meanwhile, Syriaˈs grand mufti, for his part, appreciated Iran for its supports for the oppressed Syrian nation. He also urged the need for maintaining unity among Muslims to foil enemiesˈ plots. According to reports, Sheikh Al-Buti was killed in a terrorist bombing at a Mosque in Syrian capital Damascus on March 22 . The attack claimed 42 lives and 84 other people were reported injured./end
