Iran Envoy: We Believe In Constructive Ties With All Lebanese Groups

Beirut, June 28, IRNA – Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Mohammad Fathali after his meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Gerge Bassil said that Tehran decisively believes in establishing constructive ties with all Lebanese groups. He said that electing a president for Lebanon is hundred percent a domestic affair and ˈwe confirm the Lebanese-elect presidentˈ while underlining that Tehran decisively believes in establishment of constructive relations with all Lebanese active and effective groups. Concerning his meeting with Foreign Minister Bassil here on Friday, Fathali said that it was an important opportunity and ˈwe discussed Lebanon political development and ways to expand ties between Tehran and Beirutˈ. After meeting with Fathali, Bassil met with envoys from permanent members countries of the UN Security Council. Fatahali said that Lebanon has an important position in Iranˈs foreign policy and Iran has especial intention for maintaining tranquility, security, stability and sovereignty in Lebanon. He also condoled with Lebanese nation, government for martyrdom of Lebanese security forces by terrorists. Fatahali said that terrorists have aimed the whole Lebanon and felicitated Lebanese security and military forces great successes in fight against extremists and terrorists groups. He expressed hope that permanent tranquility and security returns to Lebanon by God willing./end
