Iran, EU Resume Bilateral Talks In Vienna

Vienna, July 12, IRNA – The deputies of the Iranian and EU negotiating teams resumed their consultation for writing of the text of final agreement in the Austrian capital at 8:00 p.m. local time. Iranian deputy foreign ministers Seyyed Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi and two deputies of EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton; Helga Schmidt and Stephan Clement attended the meeting for writing the draft of the final agreement. The meeting between deputies kicked off at a time when the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and US undersecretary of state William Burns in a one-hour meeting discussed the ongoing nuclear talks in Vienna. The 11th day of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) lapsed in Vienna 6 while no bilateral or multilateral talks between Iran and the G5+1 took place and the European and American negotiating teams are waiting for the arrival of their foreign ministers to Vienna. The two sides have had difficult and intensive bilateral and multilateral meetings in the past days on writing the draft of the final agreement./end
