Iran, FAO, Indonesia Broaden Co-op On Fisheries

Rome, June 15, IRNA – Head of Iran Fisheries Organization Hassan Salehi on Saturday called for expansion of cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Indonesia on fisheries. Salehi is currently on a visit to Rome to attend the 31st FAO Fisheries committee. The Iranian envoy met with FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva on ways to develop mutual cooperation in technical and educational programs. The head of Iranˈs fisheries organization extended an invitation on behalf of Minister of Agriculture Jihad inviting FAO director general to pay a visit to Iran. They also discussed various means of cooperation in line with FAO support for the fisheries of the member states and for the fish culture. On the sidelines of FAO committee, the Iranian delegation also met with director-general of Indonesian fisheries. The two sides studied grounds for expansion of mutual cooperation in the field./end
