Iran favors copyright cooperation with Portugal

Tehran, Oct 12, IRNA – Deputy minister of culture and the Islamic guidance for legal and parliamentary affairs Hossein Noushabadi on Saturday called for cooperation between Iran and Portugal on copyright. Noushabadi said in a meeting with Portugal Minister of State George Barto Shavir that intellectual property has been defined in Iran in several fields; industrial ownership which includes registration of inventions and trade marks and administered by State Registry of Deeds and Real Estate Organization, and literary and artistic property as well as copyright, which are administered by the Ministry of Culture and the Islamic Guidance. Noushabadi called on Portugal to upgrade cooperation with developing countries, Asian and African states in the field of copyright. Welcoming Noushabadi's proposal, Shavir said that his country is interested in cooperation with Iran which boasts of rich culture and civilization. "We favor using Iran's valuable experience in the field of copyright as well as the laws pertaining to safeguarding the rights of the writers and artists," he noted./end
