Iran Favors Global Peace, Stability Not Tension: Defense Min.

Tehran, Sept 23, IRNA – Iran has never been after tension in the world but instead advocated global peace, stability and security, Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said Monday. The minister made the remarks while commenting on the visit to New York of President Hassan Rohani who is to address the 68th meeting of the United Nations General Assembly. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a bell-ringing ceremony to mark the beginning of new school year in Iran, the minister said the world is now ready to sit at the negotiation table with Iran after international community admitted that Iran was not after tensions anywhere in the world. “Now we can talk with no precondition and from a strong position,” said the brigadier general. He stressed that talks of the Iranian delegation in New York “will be in line with maintaining peace and stability.” President Rohani left here for New York this morning. During his stay, he is to address the UN General Assembly, meet US-based Iranians and hold separate talks with his counterparts from other countries. The UNGA would be held on Tuesday in the presence of heads of state from 193 world countries at the UN headquarters./end
