Iran Felicitates Formation Of New Iraqi Gov't

Tehran, Aug 13, IRNA – Foreign Ministry in a statement on Tuesday congratulated the Iraqi nation, government and sernior clerics on the election of heads of the three branches of government as well as taking helm of power by the new government. According to the ministryˈs media department, the statement added that Iran will support the measures taken in line with completion of legislative procedure in the Arab state as well as successful holding of the countryˈs third round of parliamentary elections. Iran has from the outset underlined constitutional features and elections law, guidelines of senior clerics as well as national consensus in the appointment of prime minister and formation of the new government, the statement said. Iran will continue backing the Iraqi nation and government in fighting terrorism and preserving stability and security in the country, the statement said, noting that it appreciates the role of senior clerics and all political groups in maintaining national unity and sovereignty./end
