Iran FM: Talks With Turkish Officials Make Viewpoints Closer

Ankara, July 13, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Friday that holding talks with Turkish officials will make viewpoints of Tehran and Ankara closer to each other. Speaking to IRNA at the airport, Salehi said it is evident that the two countries have differences in a number of issues, so such meetings make the viewpoints closer to each other or at least find a way to settle crises. Concerning economic ties between Iran and Turkey, Salehi said that our relations are growing in this concern. He added that our mutual relations have an old background and the two sides have always consulted with each other on important regional issues. Salehi went on to say that given the developments in the region of the Middle East and its importance on the future of the region, it is necessary to have closer consultations with our neighbors. He said that in a meeting with Foreign Minister Davutoglu, the two sides will review recent development of the region and in this concern we will concentrate on Syrian development. Concerning Iran’s stances on Egypt development, Salehi said that our stances are clear; the Egyptian fate should be determined by Egyptians themselves and whatever they decide, should be respected. He concluded that process of democracy has started in Egypt and continues and should be consolidated even more./end
