Iran FM, Turkmen President Call For Expansion Of Mutual Ties

Tehran, Jan 22, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif conferred on Tuesday with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in Ashkhabad Tuesday on expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries. In the meeting, Zarif conveyed the warm greetings of President Hassan Rouhani to the Turkmen president and called for promotion of all out relations and cooperation between the two countries. Zarif also expressed satisfaction with the current level of mutual relations and exchange of visits between the two sidesˈ high ranking officials. There are suitable grounds for expansion of bilateral economic cooperation in energy sectors as well as transit of goods, Zarif said. Referring to the 13th Iran-Turkmenistan Joint Economic Commission meeting, he said the two sidesˈ political leaders are determined to broaden mutual ties. Referring to global developments, they called for mutual and regional cooperation to help forge unity and solidarity in the region and bring welfare, tranquility and dignity for all regional nations. The Turkmen president, for his part, conveyed his warmest greetings to President Rouhani and called for implementation of agreements already signed by the two countries. Both sides also called for active role of private sectors in broadening business cooperation between the two countries. Zarif concluded his visit to Turkmenistan and left for Tehran Tuesday afternoon./end
