Iran FM: US imposition of sanction on CBI governor illegal

Brussels, May 16, IRNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said here Wednesday that the US measure to impose sanction on Governor of Central Bank of Iran Valiollah Seif like other measures taken by Washington is illegal. Speaking to reporters at the end of his meeting with his European counterpart, he said during the meeting there was good discussion about the necessity of giving Iran assurance and guarantee that the provisions of Iran Deal particularly those parts from which Iran benefits would be fully implemented given that Tehran has fully abided by its obligations and IAEA has confirmed it several times. Zarif said the EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini was about to read out a statement on the behalf of the session on the measures to be taken in coming weeks. 'A political agreement has been made in this regard and a good move has started that I hope will bear fruit. We do not have much time. We will see within the next few weeks to what extent we can implement the measures upon which we agreed today.' 'All European sides underlined that they will fulfill their commitments and we will work with them in the next few weeks so that these guarantees will take place,' the Iranian foreign minister said. Zarif said the next meeting is that of the joint commission which will be held at the request of Iran, adding that a ministerial meeting has been predicted to be held at an appropriate time as well as meetings of experts that will begin in coming days. As for the issue of guarantee, Zarif said 'We said Iran's rights should be guaranteed and they said they will do their best.' 1378/IRNA
