Iran-G5+1 Nuclear Talks Best Means For Agreement: Spanish Commissioner

Tehran, July 16, IRNA – Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Spanish Parliament Duran Lleida on Tuesday described nuclear negotiations between Iran and G5+1 as the best way for an agreement, hoping that the talks would continue until desirable results are achieved. In a meeting with Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi, visting Lleida characterized Iran as a big and strategic country in the region. He said that Spanish government considers Iranˈs role essential to resolve the regional crises and the critical situation in Iraq and Afghanistan. ˈRegular talks between Iran and the European countries can help strengthen peace and security in the region,ˈ he said. He called for holding regular meetings between parliamentary commissions of Iran and Spain on foreign policy. The Spanish parliamentarian said that common stance about various issues such as terrorism, anti-drug campaign and energy can contribute to development of bilateral political and economic ties. Boroujerdi, for his part, said that mutual confidence can help accelerate the pace of talks and lead to resolving the disputed issue. Referring to positive attitude of Iranians towards the Spanish, he said that there are numerous opportunities in political and economic arenas, especially in the field of parliamentary relations, which should be utilized in line with promoting mutual ties. Contending that the current crises in the region are the outcome of the US and western governmentsˈ dual policies vis-à-vis terrorism, Boroujerdi said that terrorist groups of Al-Nusra, ISIL and Al-Qaeda have identical nature and emergence of new terrorist groups is rooted in USˈ policies in the region. On the new waves of violence in Gaza, he condemned cold-blood massacre of women and children in Gaza and said that the Israeli leaders have perpetrated crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Bombarding the civilian targets, killing the defenseless Palestinians and demolition of hospitals and mosques by Israel should stop and the international community must bring the Israeli leaders to justice before the International Criminal Court./end
