Iran, G5+1 Talks Next Week

Tehran, Oct 8, IRNA - Iran and G5+1 (Britain, China, France, Russia and US plus Germany) will start new rounds of negotiations next week, Foriegn Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham announced in a press conference on Wednesday. Iran's negotiating team will hold bilateral and multilateral negotiations with the G5+1 member states in Vienna next week, she added. Afkham said that Iran and G5+1 are trying to resolve an unnecessary crisis but the progress is slow and the differences over some issues still remain in place. The 7th round of talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 was held in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting last month. The two sides had also held six rounds of negotiations in Vienna to reach a comprehensive deal after they inked an interim agreement in Geneva on November 24. The Geneva agreement took effect on January 20 and expired six months later on July 20. In July, Tehran and the six countries agreed to extend negotiations till November 24 after they failed to reach an agreement on a number of key issues./end
