Iran granted IAF membership, says official

Tehran, Nov 14, IRNA – Iran has acquired membership of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), says the head of Iranian National Standards Organization. Iran's IAF membership makes it possible for the system management certificates issued by the country to be accepted in 70 countries across the world, said Nayereh Pirouzbakht in a recent interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA). The IAF is the world association of Conformity Assessment Accreditation Bodies and other bodies interested in conformity assessment in the fields of management systems, products, services, personnel and other similar programs of conformity assessment. Accreditation assures users of the competence and impartiality of the body accredited. Pirouzbakht said that one of the benefits of Iran's membership in the IAF is that we can easily accredit certificates issued by other member states. 'Now if a product has a European standard and already accredited by the IAF, there is no need to be again qualified in Iran,' she said. 1378/IRNA
