Iran hopes EU aids nuclear talks

TEHRAN, Sep. 16 (MNA) – During the meeting between Iran FM and Italy’s new ambassador in Tehran, Zarif has hoped the European Union would have a more active role so that the negotiations could achieve results. Italy's new ambassador to Tehran met with Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran foreign minister, on Monday afternoon and presented his credentials to him. During this meeting, Zarif discussed the process of talks between Iran and G5+1 and hoped the European Union would have a more active role so that the negotiations could achieve results. Zarif pointed to the old ties between Iran and Italy and stressed the expansion of these ties in all aspects. He also maintained that "now that the current presidency of the Council of the European Union (as of July 2014) is held by Italy, Iran hopes to see Italy’s effective and positive role in helping ties develop between Iran and the EU.” Italy’s ambassador said “we are always looking to pave the way for the development of our ties with Iran; that is why we were the first European country to send our deputy foreign minister to Iran following Dr. Rouhani’s presidency.”
