Iran to host 17th NAM Summit at ministerial level

TEHRAN, Feb. 02 (MNA) – Head of Non-Aligned Movement secretariat announced that the 17th Summit of NAM will be held in ministerial level in Tehran in June 2015. Hamid Baeedi Nejad said the 17th summit will be held in Tehran in June 2015 and will be attended by foreign ministers of member countries. The 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement was held from 26 to 31 August 2012 in Tehran, Iran. The summit was attended by leaders of 120 countries, including 24 presidents, 3 kings, 8 prime ministers and 50 foreign ministers. Iran has been leading the summit for three years and will submit the leadership to Venezuela in 18th Summit, which is to be held in Venezuela in September 2015. The 17th summit is to provide a document to be approved by FMs. The document then will be passed to the 18th summit of leaders to get their approval as well. The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) is a group of states which are not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc. The organization was founded in Belgrade in 1961. As of 2012, the movement has 120 members and 17 observer countries.
