Iran IAEA Envoy Responds To 50 Key Nuclear Questions

Vienna, Dec 1, IRNA – Iranian Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Asghar Soltanieh in a rare move responded to a total of 50 questions surrounding Iran's nuclear program. Speaking at the meeting of IAEA board of governors in Vienna on Friday, Iranian ambassador responded to a total of 50 technical and legal questions about Iran's nuclear program. Soltanieh, also head of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)-Vienna Branch, said, 'I feel duty-bound to thank NAM's permanent and substantial support from Iran's righteous right to use nuclear energy for peaceful and civilian purposes over past 10 years.' He noted that IAEA began investigating Iran's nuclear program which has been politicized by some Western countries 10 years ago. 'I decided to adopt an innovative approach in order to shift from the usual method of dealing with the reports of the (IAEA) director general and commenting on some usually provocative speeches of certain Western countries,' Soltanieh said. He noted that he first gathered 50 questions with the highest relation to Iran's nuclear activities and usually raised by some member-states of IAEA or ordinary people and then he tried to answer those questions based on the legal documents, more than 30 reports of IAEA director general and the existing realities. 'According to the realistic information brought in response to the 50 questions, 'no doubt is left that the (International Atomic Energy Agency) file has to be closed immediately,' Soltanieh said. 'It is only in this way that Iran will be encouraged to become more flexible while taking further voluntary steps.'/end
