Iran an influential country in region: Afghan official

Kabul, Dec 7, IRNA - A top Afghan official said here on Sunday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a powerful and influential country in the region. Talking to IRNA, a member of Afghanistan's High Peace Council Muhammad Esmaeil Ghasemyar underscored that Iran could play a pivotal role in attracting Pakistan's cooperation aimed at establishing peace in Afghanistan. Pointing to Afghanistan-Iran ancient religious, cultural and historic ties, he appreciated Tehran's fraternal and sincere cooperation with Kabul. He also urged Iran to enhance its role in restoring peace, stability and prosperity to Afghanistan./end
