Iran, Iraq Determined To Broaden Ties: Iraqi Ambassador

Tehran, Feb 5, IRNA - Iraqi Ambassador to Tehran Mohammed Majeed al-Sheikh said on Tuesday that Iranian and Iraqi high ranking officials are determined to broaden relations and cooperation between the two countries. The Iraqi ambassador made the remarks in a meeting with a group of reporters and editors at the Islamic Republic News Agency. There is no problem on the way of expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries, he said adding that the Iraqi embassy endeavors to prepare the ground for expansion of relations between the two countries. On current unrest and demonstrations in Iraq, he said in Iraq all people enjoy freedom of speech in peaceful forms otherwise it will be dealt with by the government. On current status of Iraqi Kurdistan region in the north, he said situation in the country is much better than before despite of intervention of aliens in the country, he said. ˈˈRegretfully, al-Qaeda and the remnants of former Iraqi regime play active role in such developments but the determined Iraqi nation never let reverse of the current situation.ˈˈ On relations between Iraq and Jordan, he said Iraq can make use of Jordan to resolve problems of Iraqi nation./end
