Iran-Italy Call For Expanding Ties In Various Fields

Tehran, June 26, IRNA – Head of Iran-Italy Parliamentary Friendship Group, Javad Heravi on Tuesday said that the two countries are expected to use all existing capacities to expand bilateral ties in all areas such as academic cooperation and exchange of university students and professors. In a meeting with Italian Ambassador to Iran Luca Giansanti, Heravi referred to longstanding relations between Iran and Italy, calling for expansion of bilateral ties. He reiterated that promotion of friendly ties between Iran and Italy in different fields, parliamentary relations in particular, will play an important role in bringing views of the two countries closer and help restore peace and stability to the region. He described the Westˈs sanctions against the Islamic Republic, particularly ban on pharmaceutical products as ˈunfairˈ, urging Italy to help remove these sanctions. The Italian ambassador, for his part, congratulated the Iranian nation on its high turnout for presidential and municipal elections which were recently held in Iran. Giansanti stressed the significant role of parliamentary relations in meeting mutual interests, calling for exchange of parliamentary delegations between both countries./end
