Iran-Japan To Broaden Parliamentary Co-op

Tehran, Feb 19, IRNA - Head of Iran-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group Nasrollah Pezhmanfar said on Monday that expansion of parliamentary cooperation between both countries will help bolster political and economic cooperation. Pezhmanfar made the remarks in a meeting with the new Japanese Ambassador to Tehran Koji Haneda, according to the press bureau of Majlis. Referring to deep-rooted political and cultural relations between the two countries, he said expansion of relations between the two nations will lead to promotion of political and cultural ties between the two states. Congratulating successful holding of nationwide elections in Japan, he expressed the hope to witness consolidation of relations between the two nations. Given the significant role of parliaments in consolidating ties between the two countries, he called for exchange of parliamentary delegations between the two sides. The new Japanese ambassador, for his part, highlighted the importance of parliamentary cooperation and vowed to do his utmost to broaden relations between the two sides during his tenure in Iran.
