Iran, Kazakhstan Presidents Start Bilateral Talks

Astana, Sept 9, IRNA – Visiting President of Iran Hassan Rouhani and his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev began negotiations at the Akorda Presidential Palace here on Tuesday morning discussing issues of mutual interest. President Rouhani arrived in Astana on Monday on the first leg of his five-day regional tour which will later take him to Tajikistan where he is to attend the 14th meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The meeting of the two head of states began after President Rouhani was officially welcomed by President Nazarbayev at the palace. President Rouhani is accompanied by a high-ranking political and economic delegation, including a number of cabinet members. This is the first visit to Kazakhstan of President Rouhani since he took office in August 2013. The two presidents are to discuss issues of mutual interests including major bilateral, regional and international developments. Later in the day, President Rouhani is to attend a luncheon given to his honor by President Nazarbayev and also participate in the joint meeting of the Iranian and Kazak delegations during which a number of agreements are to be signed on bilateral cooperation. Participating in a joint press conference by the two presidents is the last part of President Rouhani's working agenda on Tuesday./end
