Iran-Kuwait Call For Expansion Of Regional Co-op

Tehran, June 11, IRNA – Kuwaiti head of Iran-Kuwait parliamentary friendship group Ahmed Abdul Mohsen al-Malifi and the head of Iranian parliamentˈs National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in a meeting on Monday called for expansion of regional cooperation to settle problems facing the region and Muslim world. During the meeting, Boroujerdi underlined that withdrawal of foreign forces and cooperation of all regional countries is the only way to restore peace and stability in the region. The Islamic Republic of Iran supports a peaceful solution to Syria conflict, he said, calling on regional governments to help put an end to the crisis in the country. Al-Malifi, for his part, referred to the historical commonalities between Iran and Kuwait, saying the Kuwaiti government and parliament are determined to expand ties with Tehran. Referring to the Kuwaiti Parliament Speakerˈs invitation of his Iranian counterpart to visit Kuwait, he expressed hope that the visit will take place in the near future.
