Iran, Mexico Parliaments Ink Co-op MoU

Tehran, Jan 22, IRNA -- Heads of national security and foreign policy commissions of Iran’s Majlis and Mexican Senate signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday. Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi and his Mexican counterpart Gabriela Cuevas signed the agreement to emphasize the significance of parliamentary diplomacy in international interactions They also described parliamentary ties as an effective means for development of bilateral relations. Under the agreement, both sides will help promote parliamentary communications through reciprocal visits and consultations as well as new mechanisms for strengthening cooperation, dialogue and sharing views. They also agreed to organize regular meetings between the commissions, preparing the grounds for promotion of parliamentary ties, economic and political exchanges and cultural, scientific and educational cooperation in various fields and boost collaboration in international bodies and organizations. Cuevas, heading a delegation, is in Tehran to hold talks with Iranian officials./end
