Iran MP Asks ICRC To Secure Freedom Of Iranian Pilgrims In Syria

Tehran, Dec 12, IRNA – A senior Iranian lawmaker on Tuesday called on the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) to take action to secure speedy release of Iranian pilgrims in Syria. Speaking to the ICRC President, Pierre Ryter here on Tuesday, Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Ala'eddin Boroujerdi thanked the ICRC for its role in the freedom of Iranian hostages in Libya. "The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes any kind of cooperation on humanitarian ground with the ICRC." He termed powerful countries' policies of fomenting tension and conflicts in the four corners of the world as inhumane. Ryter, for his part, called for expansion of ties between Iran and the ICRC and thanked the Iranian Red Crescent Society for dispatching aid to the flood-stricken people in Pakistan./end
