Iran MP Says Daesh Following Talibanˈs Footsteps

Tehran, July 13, IRNA - Member of the Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Kazem Jalali believes that the Daesh terrorist group also known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is following the footsteps of the Taliban. Speaking to IRNA, he noted that Daesh was established by the Western states to portray a barbaric and undemocratic image of Islam. Jalali criticized the support of certain regional states, UK and France for Daesh and noted that the ISIS interpretation of Islam is against that of the Father of the Islamic Revolution the late Imam Khomeini. Referring to terroristsˈ claims about fighting for democracy in Syria, the official added that terrorism will not bring democracy. The terrorists will one day turn their guns at their supporters, Jalali added. Daesh is a Salafi organization affiliated to al-Qaeda founded in Iraq in 2004./end
