Iran Navy Ready To Confront Any Threat: Sayyari

Mashhad, Nov 26, IRNA – Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Friday that the navy is ready to confront any threat. Sayyari noted in a speech before the Friday prayers in Iran's Mash'had Province that the navy is ready to defend the country's water borders quite powerfully. 'The Iranian Navy is a strategic force and not a marginal one,' the Navy Commander stated. Sayyari further noted that the Islamic Republic Iranian Navy has made good progresses in production and development of submarines and warships. The presence of the country's Navy in international waters, including the Gulf of Aden is inspiring for the regional countries and secures the safe transition of oil tankers and trade ships, there, he added. Sayyari underlined that Iran is a peace-loving nation and does not seek meddling in other countries' affairs. The Navy has been developing its presence in international waters since last year, regularly launching vessels in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden to protect the Iranian ships from Somali pirates operating in the area, he said.
