Iran-Norway Favor Diplomatic Settlement Of Syria Crisis

Beirut, July 3, IRNA – Iranian and Norwegian ambassadors in Lebanon on Tuesday called for diplomatic settlement of the Syrian crisis. Iranˈs Ambassador to Beirut Ghazanfar Roknabadi and Norwegian Ambassador to Lebanon Svein Aas discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the entire region. The Norwegian ambassador congratulated Iranian counterpart on internationally acclaimed presidential election of Iran and landslide victory of Hassan Rohani. Svein Aas said that rich experience of president-elect Hassan Rohani in political field, especially the nuclear diplomacy, would help develop cooperation between Iran and other countries. He highlighted significance of stability in Lebanon and the need to thwart impacts of the Syrian crisis on Lebanon, calling for immediate settlement of crisis through diplomatic channel and help improve situation of Syrian refugees in Lebanon. Roknabadi for his part referred to Iranˈs initiative for democratic settlement of the Syrian crisis and Iranˈs humanitarian relief aid supplies being distributed regularly among Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. He said there is no doubt that foreign financial and arms support for the terrorist groups in Syria must stop as the first necessary step to find a democratic settlement to the crisis./end
