Iran offers comprehensive supports for Iraq sovereignty

TEHRAN, Aug. 17 (MNA) – Iran’s FM spokeswoman has expressed the Islamic Republic’s comprehensive support for Iraq’s sovereignty. Marzieh Afkham on Saturday pointed to the recent political developments in Iraq as a good opportunity for that country and said the Islamic Republic of Iran supports unity, integration and sovereignty in Iraq. She also pointed to peaceful transition of power in Iraq as a sign of political maturity in the country and asserted that legal frameworks are established in Iraq and the country is moving toward firm democracy and stability. Afkham expressed gratitude to the role of Shia grand clerics, political figures and parties in recent developments in Iraq and expressed hope that all political groups in that country help to solve problems to help government. She hoped that unity of Iraqi people and government would accelerate extermination of inhumane terrorist groups in this country. Recently, Iraq’s new President Fouad Massoum appointed the deputy parliament speaker Heidar al-Ebadi to form a new cabinet. Former Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki stepped down on Thursday and voiced support for the newly elected PM. Iraq has been fighting ISIL Takfiri terrorists since they took control of Mosul on June 10. The terrorist group has been committing terrible crimes in the captured cities and provinces and has executed many Iraqi civilians.
