Iran official: Talks with US ˈusefulˈ

Tehran, Sept 6, IRNA – Senior member of Iranˈs nuclear negotiating team Abbas Araqchi called bilateral talks with the US ˈusefulˈ and expressed hope that the talks could help solve differences. Deputy Foreign Minister in Legal and International Affairs, who is in Geneva, Switzerland, in the second day of bilateral talks with the US, told IRNA on Friday that the talks, which continue tomorrow, has been ˈusefulˈ so far and we hope it can help settle differences. ˈOf course, there is still a big gap between the two sides on the issues,ˈ Araqchi said. He expressed hope that until September 18, when the next round of talks between Iran and Group 5+1 will start in New York, we could have progress in our talks. Representatives of Iran and the USA started bilateral talks here in Geneva on Thursday. Araqchi and Deputy Foreign Minister in European and American Affairs Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi, the US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns, and Under Secretary of State in Political Affairs Wendy Sherman are attending the talks./end
