Iran Oil Min. Confers With His Algerian-Venezuelan Counterparts

Vienna, June 1, IRNA – Visiting Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi held separate talks with his Algerian and Venezuelan counterparts on current situation of global oil markets here Friday. The meetings were held prior to the start of the 163rd Ordinary Conference of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) oil ministers in Vienna. During the meeting with the Algerianˈs Minister for Energy and Mines Yousef Yousefi and Venezuelan Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez, Qasemi called for expansion of mutual cooperation. The 163th OPEC ordinary meeting will open in Vienna on Friday. During the meeting, the OPEC member states will discuss production policy and new factors to nominate candidate for the post of OPEC secretary-general. Iran has introduced former oil minister Gholam-Hossein Nozari to undertake the post of OPEC secretary-general. According to OPEC procedure, the secretary-general is elected unanimously and every member state is entitled to reserve the periodic post for its own candidate./end
