Iran To Open New Chapter In Ties With PG States : Afkham

Tehran, Dec 3, IRNA – Spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry Marziyeh Afkham said Tuesday that Iran has opened a new chapter in relations with its Persian Gulf neighboring states. Afkham made the remarks while talking to reporters at her weekly news conference commenting on the recent regional tour of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. Zarif started his Persian Gulf tour on Sunday, December 1, which took him to Kuwait, Qatar and Oman. He returned to Tehran Monday evening. New form of cooperation should be established to ensure regional peace and stability, said she. The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly announced that its priority is to promote ties with the neighboring countries. Referring to Zarif’s Kuwait visit, she said constructive talks were held between Tehran and Kuwait City. On visits of foreign minister to Oman and Qatar, she noted that Zarif had fruitful meetings with his counterparts as well as top officials of those states./end
