Iran to open production line for ‘fingolimod’ in Russia

TEHRAN, Sep. 27 (MNA) – Iran’s Minister of Health will travel to Russia on Wed. to open a production line for fingolimod medicine used in the treatment of the relapsing form of multiple sclerosis (MS). Iran’s Minister of Health Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi will lead a delegation to St. Petersburg and Moscow on September 28 and 29. During his visit of St. Petersburg, the minister is scheduled to inaugurate a production line for Iranian-manufactured fingolimod drug – trade name Gilenya – that is helpful in reducing relapses and delay disability progression in patients with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis. Furthermore, during the Iranian minister’s meeting with Russian officials in Moscow, the two sides will exchange views on pharmaceutical and health-related cooperation, and confer on ways for the transfer of technology in the field of medicine and medical equipment. During the visit, a number of MoUs on health and medical cooperation will be signed between the two countries.
