Iran Outraged By Terrorist Bombing Of Aleppo University, Terming Western Crimes Against Humanity

Tehran, Jan 17, IRNA – Iran on Thursday strongly condemned terrorist bombings against university students in Aleppo, Syria, terming it western crimes against humanity. Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution denounced the terrorist blast against university compound in the city of Aleppo, Syria in which scores of defenseless students were martyred and several hundred wounded while taking exam. In a statement, the cultural body expressed outrage at the terrorist operations being carried against defenseless people of Syria and this time against university students at the behest of the western governments. "The terrorist event which caused great sorrow among people of culture reveals the true nature of the terrorists who have been making crisis in Syria for over two years thanks to the support of the enemies of the Syrian nation." Noting that universities and cultural centers are internationally considered as safe haven from attacks during armed conflicts, it said terrorist attack to the University of Aleppo is a clear example of violation of the well-accepted international norm which has caused hatred in the world public opinion. In the meantime, the body expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the victims of the blast as well as the men of culture. The cultural body called for peaceful settlement of crisis in Syria through national dialog./end
