Iran, P5+1 Determined To Reach Agreement: Expert

Tehran, June 18, IRNA – Despite serious differences between the two sides, Iran and the P5+1 are determined to reach a final deal in ongoing nuclear talks in Vienna, said an Iranian expert on international affairs Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh on Tuesday. In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Falahatpisheh said recent bilateral talks between Iranian negotiators and delegations from the P5+1 member states have brought views of the two sides closer. He said Iranian negotiators and their western counterparts are pursuing a win-win policy in Vienna talks. Iran has not given up its legitimate right to nuclear technology and insists on its principled stands, he said, noting, the western side, on the other hand has noticed that Iran is not ready to negotiate at any costs and rather is seeking an agreement based on a win-win logic in which Iranˈs nuclear rights are recognized by the other side. Falahatpisheh believed that regional developments could play a part in encouraging both sides to work more seriously to reach a comprehensive deal. ˈThe developments across the region influence the negotiations from outside,ˈ he said. He said regional developments have spurred realism on both sides and led the US to better understand Iranˈs realistic approach. The fifth round of nuclear talks between Iran and six world nations – known as the P5+1 – began in Vienna on Monday aiming to agree on drafting a comprehensive deal to put an end to years of dispute over Tehranˈs nuclear program, what they failed to do in previous talks held last month also in Vienna./end
