Iran-P5+1 Resume Expert-level Talks On 2nd Day

Tehran, Oct 23, IRNA – Iran and the six world powers (also known as the P5+1) resumed their expert-level talks on Thursday to reach a conclusion about issues discussed in yesterday's eight-hours sessions. The expert-level talks began at the United Nations Office in Vienna on Wednesday and lasted for eight hours. The talks were held in two morning and afternoon sessions and co-haired by head of the political and international security department of Iran's Foreign Ministry Hamid Baeedinejad and EU foreign policy chief's special aide Stephan Klement. The discussions aimed at finding ways to resolve outstanding issues surrounding Iran's nuclear program. Wednesday's negotiations focused on the size and scope of Iran's enrichment activities, ways to lift sanctions against the country and the duration of its final agreement with the Group 5+1 (US, Britain, Russia, France and China plus Germany). The expert talks are being held to reach a mutual understanding by the two sides over the disputed issues. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said earlier on Wednesday that during the ongoing talks, experts from both sides are to examine in details plans which were raised in previous nuclear talks which were held in Vienna, Austira in mid October. The last round of talks (the 8th round) between Iran and G5+1 member states ended in Vienna on October 16 focusing on major disputed issues including the size and scope of Iran's enrichment activities, the procedure of sanctions removal and the duration of the final agreement. The talks were co-chaired by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton./end
