Iran, Pakistan Hold Major Position In Islamic World : Pakistani Editor

Islamabad, Aug 26, IRNA - A Pakistan editor on Sunday said that both Iran and Pakistan hold important position in the Muslim world. Talking to IRNA, Saleem Bukhari, editor of daily ‘The Nation’ said that Iran after success of the Islamic Revolution has been raising a strong voice for the causes of Muslims. Iran has always tried to solve the problems of Muslims, said the journalist. He said that Iran has taken a strong stance on Syria and Egypt. Iran does not support any kind of foreign interference in Syria and Egypt, he said. The editor also hailed the stance taken by the new Pakistani government on Syria and Egypt. Saleem Bukhari said that Pakistan is committed to the completion of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline and the change of governments would have no impact on the future of the project. He said that Iran and Pakistan have long history of strong cordial relations and their relations will continue to grow. Sometimes because of the international scenario there are ups and downs in the bilateral relations, but overall relationship has remained strong, said the senior journalist. Expressing his views, the analyst said that both Iran and Pakistan need each other. He went on to say that Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project would further strengthen the bilateral ties. The editor added that the project would help Pakistan to overcome energy crisis. The journalist said that Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed his resolve to complete the IP project during his first media briefing. He added that the prime minister has even asked the petroleum minister to inform media about the sincerity of the new Pakistani government in completing the IP gas project. Saleem Bukhari said that IP project is the only viable project for Pakistan to overcome its energy crisis. He said that Iran is extending its all-out help to Pakistan for completing the project. The analyst said that people of both Iran and Pakistan also want the IP gas pipeline to be completed. “Iran is our brother and wants to help us in overcoming our energy crisis,” he said./end
