Iran- Pakistan Officials Discuss Abducted Border Guards Case

Zahedan, March 9, IRNA – Iranian and Pakistani officials in a meeting discussed the issues related to freedom of the five Iranian border guards abducted on February 6 near the border with Pakistan. Governor-General of Iranˈs Sistan and Balouchestan province Ali Owsat Hashemi and Governor of Pakistanˈs Balouchestan State Mohammad Khan Achek Zehi met behind the doors in Zahedan city. Achek Zehi, heading a political and security delegation, arrived in Tehran on Saturday evening. It is said that the border exchanges, border security issues, specially freedom of five Iranian border guards were among the most important issues discussed between Achek Zehi and Hashemi. Balouchestan is the biggest Pakistani state of Pakistan and it accounts for about 44 percent of the total Pakistani soil. This state despite its vastness has the lowest population in Pakistan which is about eight million people. The center of Balouchestan state in Pakistan is Quetta with 896,000.
