Iran Parl. Speaker praises Germany’s effort to solve Iran’s nuclear issue

TEHRAN, Oct. 18 (MNA) – Commending Germany’s support of Iran’s nuclear program in Vienna, Iran’s parliament speaker has said following visits of German officials indicates improvement of longstanding ties between the two countries. Meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Tehran on Saturday, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani pointed to the recently signed agreements between the two countries; “as a result of the recent changes bilateral relations are expanding and Iran’s Chamber of Commerce can further facilitate the process,” he asserted. Larijani also expressed eagerness towards shaping relations on the basis of technological cooperation and called for expansion of economic and political collaboration. He deemed academic cooperation as crucial and vital and expressed hope towards expansion of parliamentary relations between the two countries at expert commission level. Germany's foreign minister, for his part, expressed satisfaction for his presence in Iran; “we are very pleased about the approval of JCPOA by the Iranian parliament and we hope the 12-year negotiations will come to a satisfactory conclusion at this point,” he added. He referred to his country’s efforts to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue and emphasized the need to quickly compensate for the missed opportunities between Iran and Germany by providing proper grounds for future relations. Pointing to German investors’ interest to participate in Iran, Steinmeier said beginning economic relation is of mutual concern and we have sent delegations while expansion of political relations is also feasible. Steinmeier also expressed satisfaction towards the Iranian offcials’ remarks over the past few days; “we welcome their offers for cooperation in the fields of environment, water management and renewable energies,” he noted. The German official also deemed development of academic and scientific ties between the two countries as an effective measure taken in his trip to Iran and found it as a good opportunity to promote bilateral relations as the final implementation of the nuclear deal is at hand.
