Iran Parliament Holds Western Govts Accountable For Crimes Against Humanity In Mideast

Tehran, Aug 19, IRNA – Iranian Parliament on Sunday held the western governments accountable for intervention in democratic process of the Middle East nations which led to crimes against humanity in the Middle East. Human Rights Group of Iranian Parliament said in a statement that crimes in Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine and Bahrain unveil the real nature of the so-called human rights advocates, the Western governments. The statement was issued on the anniversary of a US-UK-backed coup in Iran in 1953 which led to collapse of Iranian democratically-elected government and strengthening dictatorship of Mohammad-Reza Shah. This inhumane military coup was supported by the Western governments claiming to be advocates of human rights, the statement read. They were even ready to attack the country in case of defeat of the coup. The statement said that the hegemonic powers have only changed their methods, citing their intervention in internal affairs of Egypt, Bahrain, Syria and Afghanistan and their support for the criminal occupying Israeli regime. The Parliament also criticized the UK media for fueling sedition in Iran in the aftermath of presidential election in 2009. The Iranian nation will neither forgive nor forget 1953 military takeover to subject Iranian great nation to historical oppression and is well aware that claims of human rights, freedom of speech and democracy are nothing but a scheme to trample upon the rights of nations, the statement said./end
