Iran Parliamentary Delegation Due In Syria To Monitor Presidential Election

Tehran, May 26, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Sunday that Iranian parliamentary group will go to Syria to oversee the presidential election. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the Roundtable Discussion on Iran Role in Settlement of the Middle East Crises, Amir-Abdollahian said that Hamas leader Khalid Mashal managed to remove ambiguities on Syria, citing Mashalˈs statement about non-interference of the Palestinian liberation fighters in the Syrian affairs. Asked whether the Arab states in the Persian Gulf which have been Iranian trade partners deposited the frozen assets to the Central Bank of Iranˈs account after the Geneva Accord, Amir-Abdollahian said banking system has taken some measures in the Persian Gulf with regards to the agreement on repatriation of Iranian frozen assets, including $2.4 billion. The transactions have been made freely. To a question on the meeting of Ahmad Jarba, the Syrian opposition Coalition leader with the MKO ringleader Masood Rajavi in Paris, Amir-Abdollahian said that Ahmad Jarba has a weak personality politically and at the same time such a person can not distinguish with whom he is meeting. He is not appropriate to have a say in the Syrian future.” He said the MKO is dead and forgot in Iran, unable to declare itself by no means in the Syrian event./end
