Iran Playing Key Role In Regional Stability: Afghan FM

Islamabad, Feb 19, IRNA – Iran is playing a key role in strengthening regional peace and stability, Afghan Foreign Minister Zelmy Rasul said on Friday. Rasul made the remarks in an interview with IRNA on the sidelines of the 3rd Iran-Afghanistan-Pakistan summit meeting, stressing that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the most powerful country in the region. Rasul further appreciated Iran's assistance to Afghan nation and government in the past three decades. On Afghan stability, he said restoration of peace and tranquility to the country is the request of all Afghans. Rasul stressed that the trilateral Islamabad summit is crucial to all regional states. Kabul is due to host the 4th round of summit between the three neighboring countries, said Rasul, adding that such summits will help strengthen peace and stability in the entire region, particularly in Afghanistan./end
