Iran Protests To Australia Over Ignoring Occupation Of Holy Qods

Tehran, June 24, IRNA – Australian Ambassador to Tehran Paul Foley was summoned to Foreign Ministry to protest ignoring occupation of Holy Qods by Australiaˈs chief justice. Director General of the Middle East and North African Department of Foreign Ministry Reza Ameri conveyed the Iranian protest to Paul Foley. He expressed outrage at the Australian chief justice statement ignoring the occupation of the Holy Qods by Israel, calling for correction by the Australian government. He referred to the background of Palestine occupation by the Zionist regime and emphasized that the Holy Qods is the first Qibla of the Muslims, with high esteem to the Muslim World. Ameri documented on international conventions and documents about the state of Palestine and the Holy Qods and the occupation of the Holy Qods by Israel. Foley said for his part that he would convey the Iranian protest to his countryˈs officials and explained that the chief justiceˈs statement in the specialized commissions were ceremonial and separate from the policy of the Australian government. He said the policy of the countryˈs government on Palestine and Israel has not changed and his countryˈs stance falls within framework of the UN resolutions. The Australian envoy added that the Austrian governmentˈs stand has also been mentioned in the letter of Australian foreign minister to the Secretary General of the Islamic Cooperation Organization./end
