Iran Provides IAEA With Information On New Generation Of Centrifuges: Official

Tehran, Dec 8, IRNA – Iran has provided the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with information about the new generation of its centrifuges in line with an action plan signed by Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) and the UN nuclear agency, said IAEO spokesman Behrouz Kamalvand on Saturday. Kamalvandi said that production of the new generation of centrifuges was in line with IAEO’s approach to enhance level of enrichment machinery and increase the amount of fuel Iran needs to operate the power plants and medical research reactor. He added that the new generation of centrifuges have been produced with a higher capacity compared to the first and second generation of machinery and have undergone preliminary tests. The spokesman said that Iran will continue with research, development and employment of modern know-how to produce the fuel required by the country’s nuclear reactors to generate electricity up to 20,000 MW in the long-term. Iranian parliament has passed a legislation requiring the government to build 20 power plants with capacity of 1,000 megawatts each./end
