Iran Pursuing Peace, Security: Advisor

Tehran, Sept 21, IRNA – Iran now seeks peace and security on the basis of justice in the regional and international levels, said senior advisor to Supreme Leader Brigadier General Seyyed Yahya Rahim-Safavi on Friday. Addressing the congregation Friday Prayers during a pre-sermon speech, he commented on the reasons why the Zionist regime and its allies started a war against Iran. In his address on the threshold of the Sacred Defense Week, Safavi described Iraq’s war on Iran as one of the deadliest one. He said that they were out to topple the Islamic Republic system, capture Khuzestan Province and undermine Iran’s potential. The enemy failed to materialize its objectives, he said, noting that Iran has achieved great accomplishments and turned into a major power which can play a role in the international equations. The enemy wanted to prevent the spread of the Islamic Revolution, but the elected governments in Iraq and Afghanistan indicate its failure./end
