Iran-Qatar First Ever Joint Political Committee Convenes

Tehran, March 16, IRNA – First ever session of Iran-Qatar Joint Political Committee was held in Tehran on Saturday. The meeting was co-chaired by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Qatari counterpart Mohammad Ibn Abdullah al-Ramihi who has led a Qatari delegation to Tehran. The two sides reviewed ways to promote bilateral ties as part of the political discussions between the two countries. The two delegations also discussed the latest regional and international developments and underlined the necessity to find a political solution to ongoing crises across the region, particularly the humanitarian crisis in Syria. They agreed to hold joint political committee sessions alternately in Iran and Qatar every three months. The Iranian and Qatari diplomats called for collective efforts by governments of the region to restore peace and security to the region. Meanwhile, the two parties agreed to hold foreign ministers meeting in Tehran within the next three months in the context of Joint Iran-Qatar High Commission./end
