Iran ready to aid Afghanistan over avalanche incident

TEHRAN, Mar. 02 (MNA) – In a telephone conversation with his Afghan counterpart, Iranian FM has vowed Iran’s Red Crescent readiness to send any help requested by Afghanistan. Zarif expressed his deep grief to Salahuddin Rabbani over the natural disaster which affected several provinces in the country, mainly Panjshir and claimed lives of about 300 people. He also announced the Iranian Red Crescent was ready to dispatch any kind of assistance the country needed. More than 200 people have died in a series of avalanches triggered by heavy snowfall around Afghanistan on Thursday. Panjshir, around 100 kilometers (62 miles) northeast of the capital, Kabul, has been the most affected area with most of the people trapped in the mountainous valley.
